Websites
Add a website
Add your domain to your plan so FiniteHost creates its folder, its CDN and its HTTPS certificate.
Learning path · step 7 of 20
On this page
Every website on FiniteHost starts with one step: you add its domain in the panel. FiniteHost then creates a folder for the site's files, sets up a CDN host for it and prepares its HTTPS certificate. You do not need to configure a web server yourself.
Before you start#
- You need an active web hosting plan (Spark, Starter, Pro, Business or Scale). Websites cannot be added while a plan is being set up, is unpaid or is suspended.
- You need a domain you own, for example
acme.in, registered at any registrar such as BigRock, GoDaddy, Hostinger or Cloudflare. - Each plan includes a fixed number of websites:
| Plan | Websites |
|---|---|
| Spark | 1 |
| Starter | 3 |
| Pro | 10 |
| Business | 25 |
| Scale | 50 |
Add the domain#
- Open Websites. In the panel's left menu, choose Websites (under the Websites group).
- Find the form. Scroll to the Add a website card, or press the Add website button at the top of the page.
- Type the domain only. Enter it without
http://,https://orwww., for exampleacme.in. We set up bothacme.inandwww.acme.infor you. - Press Add website. A message confirms the site was added and the panel takes you to Domains & DNS for that domain.
What happens next#
While the site's State shows Provisioning, FiniteHost:
- creates the folder
/sites/acme.in/publicin your storage (this is where your website files go); - creates a CDN pull zone for the site, which gives it its own CDN host;
- applies the new site on your web server.
When the site is ready, its state changes to Ready and we email you the DNS records to set. You can see the same records at any time under Domains & DNS.
The HTTPS column then reads Waiting for DNS until the records at your registrar point to FiniteHost. Once they do, a free certificate is issued and the column changes to HTTPS on.
If something goes wrong#
- "Enter a domain like example.com": remove
http://,www., any path such as/home, and spaces. - "That domain is already on FiniteHost": the domain is already added, on your account or another one. If you think this is a mistake, write to support@finitehost.com from the email address you sign in with.
- "Sites can be added while the plan is active": renew the plan under Billing & plans, then try again. See Renewals and expiry.
- "… includes 1 website(s). Upgrade to add more": all the websites on your plan are in use. See Upgrade your plan.
- The state stays on Provisioning for more than 15 minutes: write to support with your subscription ID (shown on the Dashboard, for example
t3d2ca2b860).
What's next#
- Connect your domain: set the A and CNAME records at your registrar.
- Upload your website over SFTP.
- Install WordPress step by step.
