On this page

Every payment to FiniteHost comes with a GST tax invoice, so the panel needs to know who to bill before you can buy a plan. If you add a GSTIN, your invoices are B2B invoices that show up in your GSTR-2B, and you can claim input tax credit on them.

Before you start#

  • Your business's legal name, exactly as it appears on your GST registration (or your own name if you are buying personally).
  • Your billing address.
  • Your GSTIN if your business is registered for GST. It is 15 characters, like 33AAACA1234A1Z5.

Add your billing details#

  1. Open Profile & GST. In the sidebar under Account, choose Profile & GST. You can also open it from the account menu at the top right.
  2. Fill in Legal name. For example, Acme Tools Pvt Ltd.
  3. Add your GSTIN (optional). Type it in GSTIN. Letters are turned into capitals for you.
  4. Choose your State. If you added a GSTIN, the state is taken from its first two digits and your choice here is ignored.
  5. Enter your Billing address. Use the full postal address, including the PIN code.
  6. Save. Press Save billing details. You see "Billing details saved."
Profile & GST. The Account card on the right shows whether your invoices will be B2B (with GSTIN) or B2C.

The place of supply decides how the 18% GST is split: CGST and SGST for Tamil Nadu, IGST for every other state. See GST and input tax credit.

Troubleshooting#

  • "Name and billing address are required for a tax invoice". Fill in both Legal name and Billing address.
  • "GSTIN must be 15 characters, like 33ABCDE1234F1Z5". Check for a missing or extra character, and for spaces.
  • "GSTIN check digit does not match. Check for a typing mistake". The last character is a checksum of the first 14. One character is wrong; compare with your GST certificate. A common mix-up is the letter O and the digit 0.
  • "GSTIN state code ... is not a valid Indian state code". The first two digits must be a real state code, such as 33 for Tamil Nadu or 29 for Karnataka.
  • "Choose your state". Without a GSTIN, pick your state from the list.
  • "Add your billing details first. They go on your tax invoice". You tried to buy before saving this page. Save it, then buy again.
