FiniteHost sells three kinds of thing: hosting you manage from our panel, VPS servers you run yourself, and website projects we build for you. This guide helps you pick. If you are still unsure, write to support@finitehost.com with a line about what you want to do.
Before you start#
- Know roughly what you want online: a website, mail, a script or bot, or software of your own.
- Be honest with yourself about whether you want to run a Linux server. A VPS gives you full control and full responsibility.

Pick web hosting if#
- You want a website and mail working without learning server administration.
- You like that HTTPS, the CDN, backups and limits are handled for you.
- Start with Choose a plan.
Pick a VPS if#
- You need software that hosting does not run, such as Node.js, Docker, a game server or your own database setup.
- You are comfortable on a Linux command line, or ready to learn, and you accept that updates and security are your job.
- A server in the USA is fine for you. From India, expect a round trip of very roughly 200 to 300 ms.

- You want a professional site and would rather not build it yourself.
