A VPS is prepaid for a month or a year, like every FiniteHost plan, and never renews automatically. We never store a card or charge you without you completing a checkout. Each period you pay for, we renew the server with our data-centre partner for you.

Before you start#

  • Find your server's Paid until date in the panel under Servers. It counts from the day the server was handed over.
  • Keep your billing details current, since each renewal gets a new tax invoice. See Billing details and GSTIN.

How long a payment lasts#

BillingCoversPrice
Monthly30 daysThe monthly price
Annual365 days10 times the monthly price (12 months for the price of 10)

Renew a VPS#

  1. Open Servers in the panel and find your server.
  2. Pick Monthly or Annual with the switch, then press Renew on your server.
  3. Pay on the checkout with UPI, a card or net banking, as when you ordered.
  4. Check the new date. The paid-until date moves forward and a new tax invoice appears under Invoices & refunds.

Renew a few days before the paid-until date. Your server is rented from our partner for each period and we renew it there by hand, so early is safer.

Stop using a VPS#

There is nothing to cancel. To stop, simply do not renew. Before the paid-until date:

  1. Copy everything you need off the server. For example, dump your databases with mariadb-dump --all-databases > all.sql, then copy files to your own computer:
Shell
rsync -avz root@203.0.113.10:/var/www/ ./www-backup/
  1. Check the copies open on your computer before the server goes.
  2. Tell us if you want it removed early. Write to support@finitehost.com. Removing a server early does not by itself refund the unused days; see below.

Upgrade to a bigger VPS#

If you need more CPU, memory or disk, write to support@finitehost.com or use the upgrade option in Servers when it is offered. Once an upgrade is paid, we upgrade the server at the provider by hand within 1 business day and email you when it is done.

Refunds for a VPS#

SituationRefund
Within 7 days of your first payment, before the server is set upFull refund
We could not set the server upFull refund
Charged twice for the same periodFull refund of the extra payment
After the server has been handed overProrated for the unused time, at our discretion

After the handover, the server has already been bought from our partner for the period you paid, which is why a refund then is prorated and decided case by case. Ask from Invoices & refunds in the panel, as in Refunds.

Troubleshooting#

  • No Renew button. The server has ended, more than 30 days after its paid-until date. Write to support@finitehost.com at once; if it has not yet been cancelled at the provider we will tell you.
  • You renewed but the date did not move. Payments can take a few minutes to be confirmed. If it has not changed after an hour, write to us with the payment reference.
