Website projects, step by step

Besides hosting, FiniteHost designs and builds websites: business websites, online stores, scientific and research sites, e-learning platforms with self-hosted video, and subscription or membership sites. A person reads your brief and sends you a written quote before anything is charged. You pay in milestones, each with a GST tax invoice, and the finished site is launched on FiniteHost hosting, with the first 12 months included.

Before you start#

• You have a FiniteHost account and your billing details are saved. See Create your account and Billing details and GSTIN.
• Look at the website services and pick the one closest to what you need. Each shows a "from" price before GST, the typical time and the hosting plan included.
• Gather what you already have: your logo, some text, photos, product lists, and links to sites you like.

Services and starting prices#

The "from" price is where a small project of that kind starts. Your price is in the written quote.

Start a project#

1. Open Start a project. On a service page choose Start a project, or in the panel open Projects and start a new one.
2. Pick the service. If your idea mixes two, pick the main one and say so in the brief.
3. Write your brief (see the next section) and send it.
4. Wait for a reply. A person reads every brief. You can follow the project's status under Projects, and withdraw it at any time before your first payment. If anything is unclear we ask questions first; then we send a written quote. Nothing is charged until you accept it.

Write a good brief#

A clear brief gets you an accurate quote sooner. Cover these points in plain words:

• What the site is for, and who will use it. For example: "Customers in Chennai booking a service visit".
• The pages or sections you expect, such as Home, About, Services, Contact, a product catalogue.
• The features you need: enquiry forms, online payments, logins, courses, downloads, a members area.
• Two or three sites you like, and what you like about each.
• What content you will provide (text, photos, product data) and what you need us to write or source.
• Your deadline, and whether it is fixed (a launch event) or flexible.
• Your budget range. It helps us suggest what fits, rather than quoting for more than you want.

Read the quote#

The written quote sets out:

Each payment through the checkout can be at most ₹1,00,000 including GST, so a larger project is split into more milestones. Ask about anything you are unsure of before you accept.

Pay a milestone#

1. Accept the quote in the panel.
2. Pay the first milestone on the same secure finiteskills.com checkout as our plans, with UPI, a card or net banking.
3. Keep the tax invoice. Every milestone payment gets its own GST tax invoice (SAC 998314) with your GSTIN, so you can claim input tax credit. See GST and input tax credit.

Work starts once the first milestone is paid and we have the content we need to begin. Paying the first milestone also starts the included hosting plan, so you can set up your domain and mail while we build.

Building, review and revisions#

• We build the site and share progress with you as we go.
• You review the work and send your changes in one list per round. The quote says how many rounds are included; extra rounds or new features can be quoted as a new milestone.
• Content and feedback on time. If content or replies arrive late, the delivery date moves by the same time.

Delivery and launch#

1. Final review. You check the finished site and confirm it matches the quote.
2. Pay the last milestone, usually the remaining 50%.
3. We launch the site on the FiniteHost hosting plan named in the quote, with your domain and free HTTPS. See Connect your domain for the DNS part.
4. Hosting. The first 12 months of that plan are included, counted from your first milestone payment. After that it renews at the normal plan price, like any other plan. See Renewals, grace period and expiry.

Who owns the site#

Once the project is paid in full, you own the code and content we made for it. You can keep it on FiniteHost or move it anywhere. Parts made by others, such as open-source libraries, fonts or licensed photos, stay under their own licences.

Refunds#

All of this is subject to the written quote for your project: where the quote sets different terms, the quote applies. Ask from Invoices & refunds in the panel, as in Refunds.

Troubleshooting#

• No reply to your brief after 2 business days. Check your spam folder, then write to support@finitehost.com.
• The quote is over your budget. Reply with what matters most; we can reduce the scope or split it into stages.
• You need a change after launch. The quote says what is covered after launch. New features are quoted separately; ask us.
