Site statistics and logs
See visitors, top pages, referrers and errors for the last 30 days, and read your site's error log and access log.
On this page
The Statistics & logs page shows how many people visit each website, which pages they open, where they come from and whether anything is going wrong. It also shows the latest lines of your error log and access log, which is the first place to look when a page breaks.
Before you start#
- Add the website and connect your domain. Statistics start once visitors reach the site.
Open your statistics#
- Open Statistics & logs. In the panel menu, under Websites, choose Statistics & logs. You can also press Stats next to a site on the Websites page.
- Pick the website if you have more than one.
- Read the last 30 days. The numbers update every few minutes.
What the numbers mean#
| What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| Visitors | Unique visitor addresses per day. One person on one network counts once a day. |
| Requests | Every page, image, stylesheet and script the server answered. |
| Data sent | How much data the server sent to visitors. |
| Visitors per day | A bar chart of visitors for each of the 30 days. |
| Top pages | The addresses visitors opened most. |
| Top referrers | The websites that sent visitors to you, such as a search engine or a social network. |
| Responses | How the server answered: 2xx means OK, 3xx a redirect, 4xx a missing or refused page, 5xx a server error. |
Read the logs#
The Logs part of the page shows the latest 300 lines of two logs:
- Error log: errors from your site's web server, plus PHP errors from every site on your hosting plan. Start here when a page shows an error or a blank screen.
- Access log: one line for every request: the visitor's address, the time, the page and the response code.
Logs are kept for 14 days.
- Open the Error log right after a page fails.
- Reload the failing page in another tab, then refresh the log.
- Read the newest lines. PHP errors usually name the file and line number, and often the plugin or theme that caused them.
Troubleshooting#
- The numbers look low: files served from the CDN cache are not counted here, and the page counts visits that reach the server only.
- No statistics yet: the domain may not point to FiniteHost yet, or the site is new. Numbers update every few minutes.
- An error is older than two weeks: logs are kept 14 days, so older lines are gone.
